After my last Journal entry, some of you may have noticed that I have been around dA an inordinate amount of time for someone who is supposedly employed. And you would be right...

It seems I did not get the job after all, despite the fact that the Director of Engineering took me to HR after the interviews, and made sure I was given all the prerequisite new-hire paperwork; contact sheet, insurance forms, drug testing form (which I went and did), company policy handbook, etc.

The Thursday after this, I received a letter in the mail from L-3, what I assumed was the official offer. Imagine my surprise when I read the line "Unfortunately, we are not able to extend an offer of employment at this time." I attempted to find out why, and ran into an information black hole; even my "friends" there were evasive. One has to wonder who I pissed off in my 30 years in the local laser industry...nothing would surprise me at this point.

So, my vacation continues, as well as the job search. I am still confident that I will get something before my severance pay is gone, and frankly I am just as glad it is not going to be with L-3 Communications.

Onward and forward...
